GHS Standard Rides 18th April 2010

Thanks again for supporting these rides; the weather was kind, not too much wind and some even turned out in shorts. Due to an operation on my knee early March I had to do everything by Email/phone. Thanks to Jim, John & Marilyn who came out to help on the day, for me it worked well and everything went off smoothly.

Sorry if one of the check points was a bit slow, it's always a worry if the food stops will work out, you could have arrived at a busy time!

Although I couldn't take part, it was nice to be part of it all at the finish, to hear your stories of the day, who punctured, who got the bonk, who had to ring his wife up for a lift home and lastly who got dropped, ended up at the check point way down, to find the café still full of cyclist, but still got served first!

I'm back home now, looking over who rode, I see a new rider who is only 15 and riders well into their seventies, one over 80, what sport/past time can look after such a wide age gap, it doesn't matter, you got into your groups to your ability and by your stories all had an enjoyable day.

All profits from these rides go toward promoting cycling events for youths in the Yorkshire area.
